Here is a neat item. The seller is calling it a Presto Y5/10B Transcription Turntable with a 16" platter. I've never seen a Presto Transcription Turntable before.

This is what the bigger radio stations would have used for time-delaying their broadcasts. Looks like it's really stripped-down though. I don't even see a case, this looks like it's just the platter assembly.

HI - This is my auction. The lathe is like a big K8. The lathe is complete except for cutterhead and cabinet. I used the cab to mount a 6N in for a client and now the Y5 needs a new home. Any questions feel free to PM me.
I will be listing many more pieces of cutting and vintage audio gear on ebay this week. Items to be listed include:
Presto 87A amplifier
Rekokut challengers-2
Rekokut R8 6V6 amplifier
Radiotone overhead
Presto 6D
Pickering transcription tonearm 190D
Altec 1592 mixers w/ plug in mic trans - 2
Bogen-Presto challenger 6L6 monoblock amplifiers - 2
US Navy 5 channel compressor/limiter
Roberts/Akai portable reel to reel tape machines - 2
Bose 901 speakers and equalizer.
NOS Shure cartridge analyzer w/ complete record set and manual

Thanks - Kris

If you are looking for anything, I recommend you watch Kris' auctions. I was just over at his apartments a couple days ago (he has to have a second apartment to control his overflow) and his accumulation of lathe stuff is pretty ridiculous... and I haven't even seen his warehouse at his grandfathers' place! I don't think I've ever been over to his place when his bed and couches weren't completely covered in amps, parts, platters, etc. My wife's worst nightmare (which makes my place look sooo much better in comparison (*that is why I bring her over there.,... :-) ) .

Kris is the man, is very knowledgeable, and is extremely truthful in how he represents things... if he says it works, I believe him.

Well in that case - added to favorite sellers for certain! :D

And may I add: thank you for not posting crazy starting bids like what has been happening recently...

Thanks Mike!!!
You make me sound like the bastard child of Robert VanDyke!
Seriously I am doing a major purge of lathes etc.
In the next 4 to 6 months I will also have complete plug and play Presto 8N custom console lathes (2 or 3) and two complete Fairchild 539 type custom console units built up and available for purchase.

Thanks
Kris

This is wonderful. In addition to the salvaging and repairs you are doing, I'd guess you are also gradually amassing a lot of detailed pictures of this old equipment. I think it would be great if the Lathe Trolls Wiki could start assembling such data. (Slight tangent.)

I've never seen Van Dyke's place, but I'm guessing his barn looks a lot like your apartment(s)! I'm pretty jealous.

Soo I snagged this thing. Anybody got any leads on helping me find a cutter head?
