Wanted: Broken vinylium diamond
If anyone has one of these they are willing to get rid of, I'd like to see how it's constructed.

here a quick one. not linked yet from my page. but i will do once.
here are all the different stylii microscope pictures i could find in seconds.
no time right now for more text and description.
but check the pictures.
the vinylium diamond is very small on the tip of the titanium bar.
so if such a stylus breaks normally the small diamond tip is broken on the soldering. and the stylus can not be resharped.
if the soldering is good, these stylii are quite good. even if they look ugly.
but if you go too fast into the polycarbonate or if they have a soldering problem (normally its to 99.9%) an operators error it looks like on one of the pictures... damage total.
so a solid diamond can be resharped... but i havve also pictures of solid diamonds where the tip is broken away about same size. then i guess you can throw it away also...

Flo do you know if most cutting diamonds used (yours, Souri, Vestax, etc.) are natural or synthetic? Reason I'm asking is I also collect antique phonographs and the quality of replacement Diamond Disc styluses from Expert have become awful. Cracking, breaking, etc. after only a brief use. I'm thinking in this case because of the weight of the reproducers, a synthetic jewel wouldn't stand up like a natural would. Any thoughts?
