Al Grundy treasure trove news - sale in NJ this Sat (12/8)
So we're having an "open to the public" sale at Al's shop in New Brunswick, NJ, this Saturday from Noon - 5pm. This is the address:
235 Jersey Ave.
New Brunswick NJ 08901
The entrance is on the corner of Jersey and Hay street, look for the door marked "Galaxy II" (a machine shop) and ring the buzzer or call me at 718-913-6779. This is a warehouse filled with things in various conditions. There are no lathes left. Huge variety of stuff - impossible to make a complete list, but here goes:
Various lathe parts / electronics / mono cutting consoles / monitor controllers
Electronic parts (mostly 80s vintage to way earlier)
VU & various meters, console faders
Equipment racks
Chemistry glassware, stopper bottles
Vintage test & measurement equipment
Records
Magazines/Journals
Home stereo components + speakers
Cables of all types - terminated and unterminated
DCC players + blank tape (seriously)
Tools
Turntables & turntable parts & accessories.
Metal shelving & office furniture
The warehouse is not organized in any way nor is anything priced. You come in, you dig around, make a pile of stuff you want and then make an offer. Basically no reasonable offer refused. We are trying to get rid of everything. This is a cash-only sale. All the money collected goes to Al's family. First come first serve - we're holding anything or shipping anything.
Some pics of the shop below. Not everything in these pics is still there but quite a lot of it is.

JJ - yeah I know, I don't like the empty chair in that photo either.
Everyone else, we'll be happy to see you. Hopefully you can find some cool stuff, shine it up, and put it back in service cutting or playing records. Pretty sure that's what Al would have wanted.

I really wish I could be there. Not really possible. If you find a third door I'll take it.
I have so many good memories of being in the workshop. It seemed like there were interesting things around every corner.
I truly hope that a lot of the documentation in the shelves gets scanned and shared. Looks like a lot of binders!

We're not shipping anything. It's a local cash-and-carry sale. A lot of meters / tubes / knobs and general parts left over will go to Leeds Radio in Brooklyn. The owner - Richard Matthews - is an old friend of Al's and is the best guy to sell the rest off. I'm sure he'll ship you anything you want to buy.

No motor, and that one didn't work. There are lots of oscillators and a few oscilloscopes. Lots of HP400 AC voltmeters too.dietrich10 wrote:I assume that lyrec motor in one picture is not in the final blowout....

had a good time looking around, definitely an experience to be there!
Kudos to everyone involved, thanks for your guidance.
Incase the organizers don't get to post before then,
They mentioned that the sale will be happening again next week.
If you can make it down I would HIGHLY suggest it.
You will find things you didn't know you needed
