new precision bearing for SL1200

Hi everyone

To introduce myself, I have been working on a number of improvements to the technics SL1200 Turn Table. Not least of which is my greatly improved High Precision brearing. Which directly interchanges with the existing one.

A long standing memebr who has recently heard about the bearing has sugested that I let people here know of my work, as some use the SL1200 for cutting. I know little about this area but am willing to contribute if I can. I have also just completed the prototype 6Kg Aluminium platter made from aerospace T7 grade for use with the SL1200 models.

Simon,

For those people buying my bearings and platter in the UK and Greater Europe Dave Cawley of dave@soundhifi.com is the distrubuter.
In the US I sell the bearing for US$540.00 Inc Postage.
You can see pictures and comment on the bearing; over a hundred of which are now being used; on the 'art of sound' forum or 'Vynal engine'
I will post an image here if you require.

I should mention that I am a precision engineer and could be available to machine up any special components. I live in Sydney down under!

@MEGAMIKE, am i right you use a Vinylrecorder?

if you dont mind me asking;

have you upgraded your Technics 12XX using any of MikeNew's products? if so, using which components altogether?

has the upgrade done away with any low torque issues?

if not, how have you perhaps overcome issues with wow/flutter?

cheers.

hi
the 1200s ive used have been to hell and back(all 4 of them).but in recent times ive learnt to service them and look after them(wow and flutter
??????? i dont hear any) ..if the wieght of the cutting head is what it should be and your stroboscope is going crazy on the 1200 then you need a new bearing...
the amp you can use any as long as its 200w plus..
and good choice in getting a vr you will be very pleased, souri is very easygoing dude he will explain it all to you dont worry.and dont let anybody piss in your ear about him ether.. :)
