Interesting machine. I'm guessing its magnetic. No cutting/embossing involved.

Yet fear i must [please forgive me sir]

:shock: i have a soundsciber & disc that was used as an answering machine. i don't have the accessory which made this possible yet it was. the peatrophone pictured above is nifty indeed!!! I think it was the first dedicated answering machine. i believe my soundsciber &maybe even gray & edison too, could be made to "telemarket" with a special attachment.
