Vanrock e-101 help with platter dimensions and stopper function?
Hi all, is someone please able to measure the dimensions of their Vanrock e-101 or Atom 101 platter? Mine is missing along with the stopper, record hold down device.
I need to know the dimensions of their Vanrock platter and hole and if it’s tapered, the thickness of the platter and the spacing and size of the finger holes. If someone could pls take photos of the top and bottom looking directly down on it, that would be extremely helpful so I can trace it and make a platter so I can use the machine. I’ll either machine from wood or aluminium or carbon fibre if low weight is of benefit.
Also need feedback on whether the stopper on top is push fit, lockable or also has tapered hole and sits atop as I need to make that too. Thanks in advance! Simon

Nevermind. The Very helpful guy from Vansix helped me with dimensions…it’s on the printer now

This looks great! How's it working? if you make a 3d printable stopper I'd be really interested in the STLs if you're willing to share

I’m still working on making the best platter out of carbon fibre however the for the stopper, a standard drummer’s quick release cymbal lock works best.

In fact, if you can give me accurate, exact dimensions of the platter, I’ll send you some for free postage included. All I have is some images with an off kilter caliper so reverse engineering…

Next I reamed some brass rod to fit the Neumann diamond with the 1:20 taper. I used a 2mm drill bit and ground the end at an angle of 2 degrees to use to make the correct taper for fit the diamond in the shaft. Then first successful
Cut on a pp picnic plate then PVC.

I did manage to switch back to an embossing needle and almost got the same results as on my gakken haha. Actually the gakken sounds a little bette…

ah man, didn't subscribe to replies so missed these updates - the cymbal lock idea is inspired, will go grab one and try out. Presumably you don't need dimensions any more, can make some if so
Re: Vanrock e-101 help with platter dimensions and stopper function?
Thanks. I managed to remove the drive ring on the platter and replace it with a flexible one which helped my 3D printed platter run smoothly. I then picked up old platter off a user and discovered the drive ring is actually rubber after all as I had determined was best in my design
Actually my lighter platter has lower wow and flutter so that’s interesting.
I’ve abandoned diamond cutting on this thing opting for embossing instead. It’s just way too hard on diamonds without the counterweight and suspension system and the lack of suction for the chip.
I reckon it’s only a small step up from a Gakken in that it can handle 7” discs and has a level meter.

re. wow - interesting! Yeah, it's originally designed for cutting (there's a swarf brush etc.) of course - the mech/spring for the weight is often a problem from my understanding - I ended up sticking a counterweight out the back of the head on mine at one point to make it more consistent
