Nic work, Bob. A good little reference, although he makes his spirals by decreasing the pitch of the lathe. That would be an intersting spiral indeed.

thank you very much ! the visual quality isn't astonishing, but as long as I can read it...
you may want to consider to send this one to peter millet, so he can add it to his collection. He permanently hosts almost 3 GB of mostly old nutty books about radio, tubes etc.

The guy also scans most of the stuff himself (he explains the process on the bottom of the page). Oh, by the way there's also a few books on that site that have chapters on disc cutting, like
http://www.pmillett.com/tubebooks/Books/intro_read_recording.pdf
and

cheers,
Bob

Greetings, Trolls : I am Larry Boden who wrote the Mastering book. Thanks to those trolls who hunted me down. The copyright is mine, but I consider it in the public domain. The original pix were lost in a fire some years ago.
I started cutting in the 60's at Rite Records in Cincinnati, first using the ES-59 cutterhead, then the SX 15, SX 45 and finally the SX-68. Moved to Nashville in 1969 for NRP. There we had both Westrex and Neumann systems.
Went to MCA in California in 1976, then to the JVC Cutting Center in 1980.
In 1988 I got interested in Laser Beam mastering for CD's.
I am now retired in Cincinnati, where I spend my days enjoying exotic single malt scotchs, as well as my SAE and Marantz stereo system.

Welcome aboard A few post's from you will definitely be of great interest to all of us here as well as the Lurkers
By the way I do have an SX 45 head that functions I am really interested in hearing your experience with that
I am not sure if there is any one here that have used it You are the first person that I have come across that mentions it apart from Flo who has some non plus comments about this particular head
By the way I do enjoy a :we dram: myself
