Flo's picture is the prototype and uses Neumann parts indeed. However the new head I got on demo had all new parts. He made a series of five and these were all sold. As far as I know he is now making a new series of five. If you can produce a head which surpasses the SX74 in quality it would be worth paying for. Personally I'm not interested at all in nice working heads at a low price.
How about a head that has feedback control over the entire frequency range like the Ortofons so you don't need extra filtering inside the amps ?
The beauty of the Corinth head is that it can be repaired by anybody who is capable of repairing an SX74. This solves the problem of his age.

Corinth Head

I am cutting with the Corinth head since May 2010.
It sounds super in combination with my Ortofon amps.
At this moment I have no picture on the website but that will be done next week or at the latest the week after.
Maarten and Sean came here to test the Head at my Ortofon system.

After some test cuts and listening to the result I directly wanted it.....and could buy it some weeks later because another customer which was before me cancelled his option...

I've searched online high and low for an image or info on this Corinth head and can't find anything on it. Does anyone have any photos or info on it they can share?
all the best!

Interesting listing
"If it does not make 4,500 pounds"
4,500.00 GBP = 7,319.81 USD
Good luck
One needs to do a lot of cuts to get something back out of this one though
Cheers

call me crazy but i was talking to a guy named dominick at sony about the same kind of head he had for sale and he wanted over $6K for it as well.

in this day and age, why are people asking so damn much for these things? i know the initial investment of purchasing these wasn't cheap and i'm not asking people to sell them for $20 or something ridiculous but i'm sure a LOT of guys on these forums would love to have one of these heads but there's absolutely no way they can afford them. plus if they need rewound or there's a problem and they need fixed, that's even more money people like me couldn't afford if they wanted to. that's why i'm so excited for flo's caruso head. it does the trick and doesn't cost you a 1/4 a years pay to get one.

i guess i'm just confused - i know the heads are amazing and all but there's not a lot of guys who are cutting records compared to years past and even more guys who can't afford the price of these heads. it's a piece of audio equipment - not a vehicle.

I won t say it i cheap , But I won t say it is expensive..
and if you compare the price a of a SX74 to the price of a second hand sontec eq , some old neve module etc ... 4500 gpg ... what do you have for this money ? one original 1081 probably , but not 2 , so ...
asking 8k $ for a head is not so much ... the total price of a vms 70 system is around 30 ,35 k $, so 8 k for the head is inside the prices ...
also the $ is very low since a long time ... so of course it becomes very expensive if you buy it in $

those little things are build to make a lot of records ... so divided per the number of records, it is still a good investisment ...

turning some potential people off..some that might even send good offer. but too complicated

The listing said you could do a bank transfer. Those are only about $25. That would be cheaper than .05% on $7k = $350 in paypal fees.

I would buy it if I had the extra coin. It is sort of a gamble though. The listing says it was checked out by Sean Davies. But, that is still a certain amount of trust. And, even if it works now, if it hasn't been restored or at least opened and inspected there is no gaurantee how long it will function well for. Who knows, the feedback coil might be haning on by a thread...

Restoring this head costs $6k. So, $7k plus potentially $6k is pricey. I would rather see a non-restored head go for something like $4k.

As stated by Nickou you can get a fully restored system for $30k. That includes a restored head. Not a head that is a gamble.
