Well, first feedback from cutting on VMS70 and SX74 :
we have a distorsion in the trebles because of a to long stylus OR a tip to small (1um)

Now we get hollydays and next test will be done next month. Problem should be solved in the same time.

It sounds good but not enought. We did only laquers tests.

If diamond needle can be ordered for Westrex head - please count me in on a pre-order. I'd love to do some testing as soon as possible.

In another post on here, it was said that if the grain of the diamond isn't taken into consideration, that's when they prematurely break... are these stylii made in such a way that this isn't a problem anymore? I know that's one reason that's prevented me from getting a diamond so far... the uncertainty of whether or not I got a "good" one.

Hi all!

Here is a small update:
I received the first sample, I test it the next days...
The diamond looks very good!
A correct mounting and chip suction is needed,
otherwise the diamond can brake fast.
the manual will also be updated....
correct angle (0-5degrees) is also important for lifetime.
there will be absolutly no guarantee for diamonds, because
nobody can control the installation/cutting process.

more news soon :)

I will preorder one if I can get it on a presto long shank.

How long are these things holding up? I was really hoping there would be an option that was significantly cheaper than vinylium, rather than just a few euros savings. But I'm willing to shell out the money just to not have to deal with Vinylium's (lack of) customer service and to avoid using an adapter.

When it is said that the angle needs to be between 0 and 5, is that assuming that 0 degrees = cutting face perpendicular to the blank? And 5 degrees, what direction is that? Does that mean 5 degrees off the perpendicular toward the incoming blank (if that makes sense)? I've always wondered that... for example, if you were using a presto head, I would think that 5 degrees would mean you'd lean the head back 5 degrees (from perpendicular) toward the suspension/lathe unit. Is that correct?

People would tilt the head back. If you imagine the line the cutterhead travel along the feedback screw as being a horizontal line, then the cutterhead would be tilted on that axis. I've actually seen people tilt the cutterhead both ways. Some tiltinig the stylus side down. Some keeping the stylus side up. I believe stylus tilted down by 5 degrees from the lateral across the disc is the norm.
