The spring behind the half nut should keep the head engaged unless you squeeze the lever to release it, at least as long as the screw adjustment on the lever is set correctly. On mine if you have it adjusted incorrectly, you can't get it to disengage. Sounds like you may be missing a part.
Does your R8B have any impedance markings? I have one I'm fixing up, but I don't know what the impedance is for the output to the cutter head.

Rekokut amp.
My amp. the R8B works with an Audax 8 Ohm, on the recording side, and I plugged an 8 Ohm speaker on the playback side, for the monitor I'm using a vintage headset. Till now everything is working, I have fix the amp. but I'm using it only as amp, bypassing the preamp section. I'm using a Marantz 1030 as preamp. I have recapped the R8B and changed the two 6973, with a pair NOS. and I check resistors, plus I replaced the bridge diode. It is a good amp, with plenty of power for wath you need by mono cutting. The voltage on the cutting head should not be over 2,5V when recording.dietrich10 wrote:feel like something is missing. since first time with a rekokut not sure which piece.

The short ruby from Transco 362. The stylus has the coil around the ruby, so I made a box with a voltage regulator for 1.5v dc, and the temperature of the stylus is constant 40'C. I can cut the dub from Apollo very well, but the hot stylus dosen't work with old dub, for that you need a little bit of fortune and the old type of stylus ( vintage) from audiopoint.dietrich10 wrote:which replacement stylus on the audax?

May be we all bid for all and any cutting gear
When any one posts up an ebay item in the classifieds section here we can signal our interest to each other
Say two or three or five of us bid assuming its been won by any of us here we put it up here for the winning bid plus whatever cost's for any one that wants it needs it
We can than have a parallel market for cutting related gear instead of letting go into another basket case which may never see the light of day
Having said that I do not want any one bidding for the empty VMS cabinet for me Please!!!
Cheers

Do you remember what capacitance values / voltage rating did you use to replace the "can style" capacitor with 4 sections?
thanks!
