Why did it go for so much? There was another one listed with a spare amp BIN at $4000 that sold for $3500. Are these overhead RekoKuts really worth that much or am I missing something?

They're worth however much the market will buy them for. There's still a fair chunk of proto-trolls out there who are desperate for equipment, thinking they're going to be mastering 40-minute LPs on machines like this.
