Gluing/Glueing acetates together?

I've been trying to cut an acetate album on my old mono Presto for a nice guy and his mom all day. I keep ending up with one good side and one flawed side. That's a whole 'nother story. I realized at day's end that I have an equal number of good Side A's and Side B's....on different blanks.

Obviously it is unorthodox, but has anyone tried gluing two acetates together? If so, what glue works? I am thinking of either some epoxy, or super glue, or Shoe Goo.

I am aware that the acetate might just flake off eventually. If this works even temporarily, I will be happy.

I'd hate to disappoint the client or waste these zillions of unblank blanks. I'm not intending to deceive the guy....I think he'd be happy with some acetate sandwiches, especially as he will end up with extra copies of the LP.

I've never tried this, but maybe Duco cement. Its nitrocellulose based. So I would expect that it would fuse nicely with the lacquer surface on each disk. Probably just a thin bead near the outside edge and at a few smaller diameters would do the trick.

I'd go with what mark said.
when we glue two poly blanks together for pic discs, the most important part is the outer edge.

Why not just give the client the A and B sides separately? Then there's less possibility of damage to the other side too.
Seems logical to me!

Few spots of nail polish from the girlfriends discarded colors will do the trick
Do it on a turntable by placing them on the spindle that way they will also be centered
You never want to pull them apart after that either
They will hang on like grim death, it works a treat

I recently read that labels used to be affixed to instantaneous discs with acetone (nail polish remover). It stated that if the label was wet with acetone, the lacquer would become the glue when it was applied. I haven't tried it, and probably won't, but if that's true, perhaps some carefully applied acetone would hold your sandwich together.

I think two lacquers glued together would not only look odd around the sides, but it would be really heavy.

This is partially why I stopped doing one off's. People wanted 25 minutes per side, two sides. For next to no money.

If an error was encountered cutting the second, I'd have to start all over. A whole blank media was wasted (tossed on the test cut pile). All that time was wasted. On a 50 minute disc with an error half way onto side 2 means a waste of 38 minutes of cut time plus prep. Makes a 1.5 hour project turn into three or more. Such a pain and comittment of time. And in the end, the client never appreciates the effort. They want a quick turnaround and a price that leaves you pennyless after all time and expense is calculated.

Thanks for the advice, all! I am going to pass unglued acetates to client to do with what he likes, but i will pass on these tips. He seems to be OK with the separate sides, especially as he is getting extra copies of everything at an insanely low price. Not perfect, but adequate.
