I'm new to forums, infact this is my very first, it's the first time i've felt passionate about something enough to get involved.
I don't know if all members see all posts by newbies so here's a copy.

It's 21:41 here and i've just got back in from viewing the lathe that i'd mentioned in my "HI"
I was told the famous manufacturer is in fact "Pierre Clément", it was made by him for a disk cutting friend of his so is a one off. Its 1950's and the cutter head is mono.
I've attached some poor photos to give you an idea of what i have on offer... oh, the chap wants 5000 euro! he tells me it's fully working also, all of the rubber on wheels looks and feels in great condition and has been stored with them disengaged from the spindles. 3 speeds changeable with the rubber belt on different size wheels.
He also has for sale 2 decks of his at 3000 euro each
Any feedback will be appreciated.

Anyone got any idea how much it would cost to set this up with a stereo cutting head and any other equipment necessary to get it, and me up and running?

I'm new as well, so definitely wait for someone else to chime in with advice, but here is my off the cuff two cents:
That certainly looks like an interesting lathe! But 5000 euros seems a little too steep for something that you are just intending to modify (i.e. spend more money on). It seems that if you wait, and hunt around, you can get a different vintage semi-pro lathe cheaper.
Or you could buy the vinyl recorder stereo lathe from (link) vinyl recorder for 3200 euros and a Technics 1200 Turntable? (easy to find).
I don't know what the consensus is on the machines from vinyl recorder, (link) though it seems like the guy who makes them can be a bit particular with his customers but I know a guy in New York who has one and loves it for making one off records, etc.
Take my advice with a grain of salt, because I am new here myself. Best of luck!
