vanrock cutter for repair
I have a problem with a recorder vanrock recently bought, looking for someone who can help me or knows where I can repair the car.
Problem: during the "recording" does not advance horizontally while standing, ending work. It 'happened suddenly after having tested and made two discs (wow ...). I think it is a mechanical problem or something or because the other positions all work. Thanks in advance to anyone who can help me.

Hello, probably you must change the belt oring below the machine, on the red pulley.
See the pics of another old post :
Check too if there are other belts, but I don't believe...

Hi Luke13,
You may get lucky with a belt from a Power Transmission Supplier. Some will make a belt to order like this company who recently made up a Non-Standard Sized Polyurethane Belt for me :- http://www.motionco.co.uk/index.php?route=product/round_belt As an alternative, you could source some round Polyurethane Belting of either 3mm or 6mm, and have a go at jointing it yourself like this fellow does :- https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FmrxY2l2mn0 Hope this helps. This isn't a problem, you can find orings in ball bearing shops. Are two orings with circular section ?
Re: vanrock cutter for repair
no are triangular section, thanks for help lathe rollers friends!
Re: vanrock cutter for repair
Hi Luke13,
You still may be able to substitute a "Round" belt for a "V" belt if you chose the closest diameter to the "V" profile in the Pulley. Provided that the application is not Life-threatening (Like Powering a Lift, or Elevator as our U.S. cousins call them) you should still be OK Regards Soulbear

Triangular section ? Are you sure ? No square ?
Triang. section belts were used in the past in Uher reel to reel recorders. Unfortunately I haven't seen in shops. Perhaps somewhere in web... I think that were specialized products...

Re: vanrock cutter for repair
Sorry I write an error, are square...
Re: vanrock cutter for repair
I was sure that were square your belts...
So you can use square vhs recorder belts. These are more strong than a normal cassette deck square belts. You can find these in a electronic shop.

Re: vanrock cutter for repair
bad news. I changed two types of belts to the problem remains the same: standing in the car moves horizontally, then f.forward cre the input groove recording but when I switch the machine remains firm and continues to affect orizzontalemente without moving, then ending everything works again and creates the output groove. It is probably something more serious, perhaps the sensor that does not give the input or do not know what.
Re: vanrock cutter for repair
Hmm, try look if the gears are not grease sticked . Perhaps your machine after 35-40 years must be re-lubed in some parts...
Re: vanrock cutter for repair
I check all the machine and probably the problem is the sensor that give the imput to the machine to move horizontal movement when select the recording option. I think is this because when you select other options ( standing, fast forward and recording) is all ok,the machine moved without problems, if you select recording the machine remain in a fix position. But where i can find a sensor, 30-40 years old used in Japan, in Europe? I know there is a lot of these little machines ( also har m180) in Japan, used for a lot of time in Karaoke bars. Is possible that in Japan there is some people that can repair it.

I want to apply new grease in my Atom A101. Should I remove the old grease? How? Any grease brand/type recommendation?
Best regards,
Fer

Hello,
As suggested here it is not recommended to use grease: https://agnewanalog.com/blog/2019/06/22/presto-75a-restoration-project/
Maybe do some more research to be 100% sure that you do it right.
Best,
Bob

Mmmm I see... It does have grease in some mechanical parts, so I thought It could be the adequate product to re-apply, but now I'm not sure
Thanks for the info!

Re: vanrock cutter for repair
FYI I've finally cleaned the old grease and then applied lithium grease. I've also applied a drop of sewing machine oil in some noisy pulleys. Seems to work better now!
