Cooling Plates
Is wood a good substitute for aluminum cooling plates? I've seen a few pictures recently with people using wood and was curious about it.

That's what I thought, but I keep seeing plants using them.

I wouldn’t imagine so. Perhaps for very very small runs… But obviously the cooling plates act as a heat sink so you want something with decent thermal conductivity.
