They are not expensive, maybe I will order from you someday, with shipping to Europe it would be $100, it would be ok!
Re: Professional vinyl record lathe step by step
The diamond insert cuts a groove in rolled copper very slowly, DMM so called.
I am inserting a film from another camera so that the photos are very clearly visible. The mirror of the copper chip is visible.
I made the film for people who try to cut a groove in plastic and very often diamond knives break, which are expensive.
Before you turn on the plate drive, slowly check if the knife is able to cut the material, cut a quiet groove in one rotation of the plate without turning on the engine drive.
If nonsense comes out, maybe it jumps on the plastic, it means that the plastic is not susceptible to cutting or the machine is not stiff enough and mechanical resonances occur

Condition .
If you do not have a mirror copper plate with a roughness below 0.5 microns 0.00005 mm, do not even attempt to cut such a groove in the plate because there is an almost 100% probability that the diamond blade will CRACK. Diamond is indeed difficult to grind and is a very hard material, but it is also VERY BRITTLE, a minimal exceeding of the impact barrier will cause the cutting tip of the 4-5 microns knife to crumble and the job is done ... We have devices for grinding very hard alloys, such as boron nitride, diamonds, which is why we can afford such experiments with rolled copper sheet. I have already said that galvanic copper on a stainless steel plate is very soft and has a homogeneous structure, which is why it is more difficult to break a diamond knife on it, but it also rubs off. Recording quality on copper sheets is several orders of magnitude better than on plastic type materials. It is worth investing $60-100 in a copper gavanic plate and convince yourself that plastic makes no sense ...

The DMM test head has arrived [it looks like a German train carrying ammunition of the Third Reich, it is made entirely of brass, absolutely beautiful work ...
].
I haven't tested it yet. I wonder how to disassemble it
because I would really like to see it inside ... I don't know, a bit of a shock for me. I made a few changes to the lathe and added a few elements to make work on the machine easier.

the machine is almost finished, soon tests and live videos on you tube, NO IMPROVISATION, the device is made to my needs and is not for sale [unless someone offers a million US dollars plus another million to maintain this website, then I will consider such a situation

That is a very intriguing looking head. Is this your design or have you purchased it?

Estrada ,
I ordered this head housing. I partially designed the magnetic system, but it was made by someone else. It is probably a stereo transducer based on Danish cutting heads, or JVC, another solution would fit into the housing, it is very small, i.e. narrow in the waist, but very heavy.

Thettyfus ,
I stamped the LOGO sign with a letter marker "Z" from my name "zdenec", I wanted to correct the stamping with a letter punch, but it moved, turned the stamp and two letters Z Z came out slightly turned.
Thanks for telling me that there is something wrong with my logo and you may have mistakenly associated something with it, I think. I checked this Nazi logo in the original, it is completely different from mine and I will not change it anymore, it was already stamped like that, by me. Type in the Nazi logo and you will see the difference. By the way, my favorite proverb: just because something looks like a pig and squeals like a pig does not mean that it is a real pig ... Warm regards

I am conducting a small signal level test with an artificial load source [the head is not connected, small midrange speakers with similar power to the transducers in the cutting head are working]. Before I turn on the head I have to check in reality whether the midrange speakers will withstand a current of about 1Ampere, currents on a load of about 5 Ohms, peak 5A in milliseconds, momentary. I have noticed from previous experiences that fuses light up at peaks of several amps but do not burn out, so I prefer to burn cheap speakers for $10 each than to burn transducers in the head for $5k... and more.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bBi5sVAKr2w

How lucky I am thanks to you, gentlemen Trolls!
I once bought a medal at a flea market for some services to the state. I didn't mean this decoration but this nice brass piece of metal so I bought this medal with a very nice embossing. Today I decided to turn and scratch off the layer of embossed inscriptions for services. I put it in the lathe holder and turned both sides. However, I was surprised that this metal does not squeak like brass or bronze. I thought something and took aqua regia [liquid for testing gold] out of the closet. I dripped one drop of aqua regia onto the deeply scratched edges of the medal . What do you think this material is and how much does it weigh and what physical element is it?! I will add that I don't believe it myself, the atomic mass is 196.97 plus or minus one hundred. Tomorrow I'm running to the jeweler to ask for help!
If this is it! Then 50% of the sale goes to the owner of this page that same day!

Misjah,
today I will make an online recording on yt, you will assess whether it is worth paying $200 for it by paying to the account of the owner of this site. You know, I do not need money, I have a well-paid job. If you like the quality of the recorded signal on the copper sheet, tell me and give me your address and you will receive the head at my shipping cost [free worldwide], ok? You can change the logo by stamping your own letter, e.g. M...etc.

Re: Professional vinyl record lathe step by step
I just picked up the sheet metal, I still have to polish it to a mirror finish, so I'll make a video of the head tomorrow, and it's already 20:37 here

Re: Professional vinyl record lathe step by step
A long time ago I made such a head for DMM with feedback with a Dual gramophone transducer, but unfortunately such a feedback solution brings more harm and distortion than correct operation of the head. I added a coin of the Queen of England to compare dimensions. This head achieved a maximum bandwidth of 6 kHz with coils with aluminum bodies with a diameter of 19 mm for one channel, poor channel separation, etc. As you can see in the photo, even the cones have been slimmed down to a minimum mass. One channel coil plus the entire suspension weighs no more than 1 gram, but this is a very large weight and moving such a mass 20,000 times per second at a distance of at least 5 microns is almost physically impossible. It must be five times lighter, so no more than 0.2 grams with the winding ... etc., then it makes sense

Re: Professional vinyl record lathe step by step
I think part of the reason this head may have struggled is the connection of the torque tube to the back of the body.
Look forward to hearing the test results of your new head.
All that glue will be restricting the torque tube from moving the way it should. I'd bet this is more a problem than the moving mass. Look forward to hearing the test results of your new head.
