what the basics of mastering and what should i know if i want to learn

my goal is in the future to be able to own a stereo cutting lathe so that when i find cool music online u can put it on a record for myself.

with that in mind

i realize that first i must master the audio and that if i want to be able to do anything with a lathe i should first learn to be able to master the digital files and be able to prepare them for cutting

so my first step in owning a lathe will be learning to master audio because if i cant do this there is no point in ever investing in a lathe


and this leads me to this how lol

with purely personal use in mind and with me mostly going to use Wav files

where should i go to start learning how to master
what should i know
any course or guide i can follow
i am willing to go as far as it takes

any help would be nice

That’s a good plan. Learning the basics of mastering before getting into lathe cutting will be massively beneficial. We’ve ran a professional mastering studio for the past 10+ years called ‘Pressure Mastering’, you can check Discogs for references. Also obviously on Instagram and Facebook too.

yeah thank you just how to i explain this

from the moment i looked into this its been a lot. in a way that

everything requires prior knowledge or a skill you need to properly learn this

and the skill you need to properly learn this well there is a skill you need to properly learn that and so on

and there is no clear steps on what skills i should learn

so im not actually able to use any information i find because it requires prior knowledge to the 3rd power if you get what i mean

i have no foundation to build my knoalgade on this topic

and i cant seem to find one

where do i start and how do i use that to move further?

what is the main core of mastering for audio the square one like you were teaching a child who has never mixed or mastered anything

and how would you help them use that to build more ?
