I did notice an entire thread where newbies are welcome to say hello, but thought, in my case, it would be better to start my own "hello" thread.
First about me.
I am a passionate DIY-er who likes to build stuff, as much as possible, from salvaged and found materials. I built a couple of guitars for (and with) my kid, am currently building amps (also for my kid) and thinking a step ahead, I know my kid will one day want to record some music. So, I would like to build a record lathe.
I have a well equipped amateur workshop with many useful tools.
Since I've never built a record lathe I cannot offer many contributions to this forum, at this time. But in return for asking all the questions I am going to ask I hope to post detailed build threads with plenty of photos.
I've already done some research and found this video:

Which lead me to this site, and I already read this thread:
http://www.lathetrolls.com/viewtopic.php?f=4&t=5277
I was thinking of using MPS-70 speakers (8-Ohm 3W):

...but now I wonder if 3W might not be enough and if I'd better off using 5W speakers.
Also, I plan to do a few builds, so I would also like to learn how to make my own drivers (I would need all the information for that, i.e. exact sizes and proportions, what AWG wire and how many turns in which direction, etc).
I am currently browsing this forum and the rest of the internet for information, but it would save me time if someone here could point me to some established resources that have correct information.
Thank you all in advance for your help.
