How much music can fit on a lathe cut cd-r?

This is where record cutters raise questions about cutting, and trade wisdom and experiment results. We love Scully, Neumann, Presto, & Rek-O-Kut lathes and Wilcox-Gay Recordios (among others). We are excited by the various modern pro and semi-pro systems, too, in production and development. We use strange, extinct disc-based dictation machines. And other stuff, too.

It all would depend on what lathe system your using, and what playback system you would use becuase lots of record players dont play in the very middle ,say where the label would be. But I would say max 3min, and thats really pushing it, 2min is more realistic.

i've got no experience with cutting on cd-r's but i can tell you that vinyl dubs don't degrade that fast. If you take good care of them the can last loooongtime! I guess cd-r's will last quit long too as the're made of a special plastic compound i think...
Meaby i'll test it out with an old needle!
