Yes indeed!

I've seen the Arcturus lathe before on eBay. about 2 years ago.
It was grey and not so shiny. It was sold for 2700 $.

I wonder if it works

Wow, I think this is the same type of lathe Les Paul demonstrates in the Chasing Sound documentary. -Thomas

I have already spoken to the guy as I think I maybe interested.

No drive unit - personally in this time of no monies etc and I do not know what else is missing.

I think the unit is over priced - should be more like a $1000 for someone to take a punt on it.

He said he may have a 3 speed Fairchild motor.

Oh yes - I asked him for a list of other stuff for sale, as per his ad.

Nothing yet.
Happy to learn something new.

In my opinion the price is as it should be. You rarely see this lathe for sell and if you do the condition is much worse.
Beside this the item has historical spirit and you easily find a collector who would buy it just for exponat.

If you think you can get it for less ... in your deams!

I wish I had that kind of money to burn. I'd put that in my living room as art. I'm a sucker for shiny metal things and that is pure eye candy

Wow, I think thats a good price. considering the Presto 8D recently sold for $3800 with no head, this is a bargin! Its mint! These were very proffesional lathes. i noticed that the drive motor was missing tho, not sure what you would do about that?

I may have a bid this time - but it is not a working unit and would require work

the main bearing is wood

I'm thinking about bidding on it also, but without it being complete makes me unsure. Here's a link to a website I found that has that same picture on ebay and theres another photo with a different view of the lathe. You'll need to scroll down a little to find it.

Keep in mind that there is no drive system with this lathe and the main bearing is missing and has a wood bearing instead. - as per the info I got last time round.

I agree - I have asked for a contact number and some more photos.

What is the bet they do not come - we will see.

Simon
Is ok You will see it again on the market before long
There is the "Lathe Truth" factor involved
Unless it went to Swede who would have it in his museum so it does not have to work or the Less Paul society
This one had a good look no fear but quite a lot of work to get it up and running
To the best of my knoweledge this lathe has been in the market on and off 3 times in the last 2-3 years since I became aware of it
I am sure it will come around again barr the above I have little doubt
Cheers
"The Vinyl Truth"

I spoke to the guy who was selling it.

His name is Chris - He pull it last time due to Les Paul showing interest for the museum, Les did not want to pay for it and wanted it as a gift, He then decided that he would offer a trade, but Les died last year during the deal.

I just hope that it does get used as it would be a great shame to just stick it in another museum.
