hey Guys,
First of all what a great forum and thanks for accepting me here....I am quiet new in the vinyl lathe world. Me only having dealt with and restored tube tape decks, amps, and one tube based turntable record player for my studio, I have several questions and issues would like to throw in here and gather what other like-minded people think, do or did in the past, also if I can, to share my experiences...uhh where to start ?
1) Weird idea but has any of you made a DIY cutter using a studio boradcast recordplayer as a base and the fixing a cutting lathe on it? ( with of course some external amps, EQs, limiters...etc.) ? I am playing with this thought.
2) Can any of you recommend mono cutting heads? Where to get them besides ebay? anybody still making these cutting heads?
3) Can I feed an 8 ohm signal to a mono head or it depends what type of the head is I guess...?
Have loads of questions as such, trying to understand the flow how it is working exactly...
Finally, I see loads of ebayer's currently selling some old cutting gears, untested for silly monies... there is even an old rek o kut cutting arm on ebay for 680 USD? with no needle, a very old probably gone crystal head... for this much ? very interesting...
Have a great day all !
