Weird channel drop out on low input signal
Hey trollsters!
I'm experiencing a weird issue on my VR.
When cutting, and through quiet parts, the audio is dropping level on one (right) channel. However, when the loud parts come in, the channel comes back to stereo..??
Has anyone experienced this? I did think it was my pick up needle while I am monitoring, but have checked several pick up needles.
I am going to try and calibrate everything, but if anyone has experienced this before, or has any suggestions, I will grateful!
Thanks in advance!

Re: Weird channel drop out on low input signal
Thats a standard fault for an intermittent connection. Once you get enough voltage across it, it breaks over and starts working.
You have to trace through your devices to find where the faulty connection is.

right on radar.
..i found my problem in the right channel in my mixer ,just cleaned it up with IPA and it went away...assuming u still have the mixer?..

Re: Weird channel drop out on low input signal
have you checked your cutterhead amplifier?
Re: Weird channel drop out on low input signal
can you hear the volume drop in the transducers on your cutterhead? if so, the problem is somewhere before that in your chain.

Re: Weird channel drop out on low input signal
Check the inline fuseholders. Make sure the little set screws are tight on the wires. That was the culprit when I had that problem.

Re: Weird channel drop out on low input signal
Ok so I’ve tightened those 2 wires with the fuses and still have the issue. Haven’t sprayed the fader with IPA yet, not sure what to do there. But I did move fader up and down, seems fine to me..
Re: Weird channel drop out on low input signal
my audio cutting out was the same problem i had years ago as a dj..i would spray it out with ub40..when it did the same on my vr mixer i took the face plate off and sprayed ipa in the vertical right fader and it went away.it came back and i did it again mind you my studio is in a hot/dusty ozzy backyard shed..try installing another mixer and trace the problem back to the units etc...my vr mixer only has that one fader used so thats why it has lasted a long time ,my dj mixers all 12 of them that i still have are all destroyed, faders cooked..
Re: Weird channel drop out on low input signal

Re: Weird channel drop out on low input signal
It’s gone!
Intermittent.
I played around w a few rca etc etc., swapped channels, sprayed ISO. It went, came back, now it’s gone after 6 cuts..
Love my job though!
Thanks all!!

Re: Weird channel drop out on low input signal
Interestingly, I had the same exact problem recently. Apparently one of the two din connectors at the cuttinghead wasn’t fitting tightly anymore. I find the Din-connectors on the VR a very weak spot. Had previously problems with din connectors at the back of the VR, which lead to the decease of the motor. So, I wonder, isn’t there a better solution for these connectors? Why not BNC plugs?
Re: Weird channel drop out on low input signal
I replaced mine with Re'an DIN plugs. Gold plated pins, metal shell and a much nicer fit...
