Hi there trolls,
I am assemble a Scully 601 lathe now, and I have a problem when I placed the turntable shaft into the lower flywheel, it is very tight and can not go any deeper to the right place of lower flywheel, I try to oil it but it doesn't work. Should I go to the machine shop ask them use grinding machine to make it more easier to fit? or this is a bad idea?
also the yoke below the lathe base is really tight too, takes a lot of strength to put it on.should I grinding it too?
Many Thanks

Hi man. It is the collars. Gotta unscrew them a bit.
Re: Scully turntable shaft problem
And if I recall you need what's called a spanner wrench to loosen/tighten them:

mine looks like this one.

Do not grind!
You can also do it by hand, if they are not too tight.
