VR-T560 precision plate without motor
Hi fellow cutters.
I have bought the precision plate from Souri 2 years ago but still haven't installed it on my turntable. I am using two vr-t560, so I would like to try the precision plate on one machine to check if it does better cuts and maybe order a 2nd one for the other machine. The question is, is it really useful to use a precision plate without the external motor? or are these 2 made to work together? Do you suggest me to install the precision plate? I get good cuts without it but you know, the enemy of good is the best!

Re: VR-T560 precision plate without motor
it depends on the turntable under the platter. if its technics 1200 then for sure you need the external motor. if it is sp10 mk2 maybe you don't need the motor because i've seen people doing it without it.
Re: VR-T560 precision plate without motor
Had the same configuration (Technics 1200 and precision plate, without motor)
No significant improvement in w/f, but I was worried about the force on the bearing because the 1200 was probably not designed for such heavy platters.
Now I use a Technics SP-10. For cuts up to 12’ no platter is needed. Personally, I would prefer a turntable with more torque rather than only a precision plate without motor.
Maybe someone has had a completely different experience?

Thanks for the replies.
I suppose won't be worth the installation at the moment, nor improve my current setup and yes, I have the SL1200 so going for an sp10 or a motor would make more sense.

keep in mind for sp10 you need mk2 version. sp15 also works good, i had it. or if you want to go cheaper, numark tt500 and numark ttx have high torque
