Your thoughts on Technics SP-12 , SP-15 and SP-20

Anything goes! Inventors! Artists! Cutting edge solutions to old problems. But also non-commercial usage of record cutting. Cost- effective, cost-ineffective, nutso, brilliant, terribly fabulous and sometimes fabulously terrible ideas.

Hello!
I'm in search of Technics SP-10 to use with VR, but it is quite difficult to find an affordable one. Other SP series turntables are much cheaper, but also has strong torque.
Does any of you use SP-12, SP-15 or SP-20 and could share your thoughts?
Is it strong enough to solve wobbling and other issues that SL-1200 appears to have?
What are pros and cons of other SP's than SP10?
Appreciate any kind of information on this issue!

I have not had the opportunity to try the other Technics SP series. But i do i have a Technics SP-10 MKII as my turntable on my Presto 6N.
And i gotta say this turntable is as stable as it can be.
Especially with the overhead weight on the platter .
The speeds are spot on.

The reason why i switched out the old presto turntable for this was because the speeds were not spot on.

I needed the exact speeds for cutting turntablist scratch records which have the sample carefully placed in time with the revolution of the turntable.

I know my post isn’t any help but. i would say just save up and get the SP-10 and don’t mess around with the other models.

Lifes too short to not have the best stuff you can have at this moment. Might as well have the best while you can instead of wishing you had.

Also check this blog post by spinnertownblanks about using Numark TT500 turntable on the VR.

If Money is an issue then this turntable looks to be up to par with powering the VR

I'm new to cutting (embossing) but whipped up a lockdown lathe and chose the Stanton STR8.150 after doing some research. Tons of torque and seems to be working well with about 40g of tracking force with Mike's Sapphire cone. I wish I could afford an SP-10 MKII though!
