Vanrock help

Hi everyone!

Relatively new Vanrock cutter here. Have had a issue with the machine this morning and have no idea what may be causing it, so thought I'd see if anyone may know what to do.

After cutting a record and switching the machine to ending in order to cut the locked groove, I have switched back to stop to return to platter to the starting position but it won't go back. Can hear the motor seemingly trying to return it, but it's just stuck there. I can move between modes, and the modes that should spin the platter are spinning it as expected, but returning it to stop seems to be doing nothing.

Any suggestions or help woukd be massively appreciated.

Just starting on the Atom A-101 myself - very curious as to how you're able to achieve locked grooves on your Vanrock, any info would be greatly appreciated

End locks should happen automatically when the sleigh / bed reaches the end of the run. Buuut, if you want to make a load of locks it is technically possible..I cut this using an Atom 101: https://www.instagram.com/p/BnY7JOxBapb/

There are a few caveats/difficulties, unless you want to undertake some serious modifications you'll be limited to the FFWD movement of the bed only (i.e. lead in/out speed) as you have to take the belt off the pulley that drives the fine movement (it's driven from the same motor which turns the platter). I've done a couple of performances with this and it is pretty fun, but makes very very short records ha ha.

Fascinating. Love the idea of making a 7" full of loops like that!
Once I get my bearings here, I'll definitely look into doing something similar

No worries, yeah really fun! Quite a balance with the atom to get things lined up sometimes. On mine, you can do things between the controls on the sliders for controlling the automatic stuff (start and stop without it moving the platter back to the start etc). though I also have used the power button to align things and then change the slider setting when it's off ha ha. Have always meant to get round to modifying it but got distracted by other stuff.. might go back to it at some point

Had this problem myself, found Vansix to be a massive help when it comes to all things Vanrock/Atom.
Amazing machines, love the self contained, basic automation of the Japanese lathes and get a great quality product using different syli.
What materials are you using for blanks?
cutting or embossing?
