vestax vinyl cutters

This is where record cutters raise questions about cutting, and trade wisdom and experiment results. We love Scully, Neumann, Presto, & Rek-O-Kut lathes and Wilcox-Gay Recordios (among others). We are excited by the various modern pro and semi-pro systems, too, in production and development. We use strange, extinct disc-based dictation machines. And other stuff, too.

You'll want to talk to forum user Motorino - I believe he has (had?) one of these before upgrading to a pro lathe w/ Grampian cutterhead.

He posted a vid cutting with it on youtube (no audio), with description calling it "the f*cking sh*t vestax low-fi", and other users who apparently seem to have used one, left comments on that vid, that many folks complain about Vestax being low-fi:

One person even SPECIFICALLY left a comment that even though it's in stereo, the actual SOUND QUALITY of the two channels is WORSE than the "semi-pro" early-1950's mono Presto cutters:

The vestax vrx 2000 its a real black shit (excuseme that expression)
I have enough knowledge to say for about, get a good cut its impossible, IMPOSSIBLE

I use the same processing now for my Grampian cutterhead. Now in mono its incredible! And i know more equipment.

The Vestax vrx2000 for educational purposes its ok
