Old new plant in Russia????

Once you have cut a master laquer, you have metal stampers created and have records pressed from them. Discuss manufacturing here. (Record Matrix Electroforming- Plating, Vinyl Record Pressing.)

Hey all
Here is something that is interesting Never knew that, Aussie put your sleuths hat on

The Jubilee of «Aprelevka»

An unusual anniversary will be celebrated in December 2010. Exactly 100 years ago a small plant in Aprelevka issued the very first gramophone record. During Soviet period of time it became the USSR largest records production plant. Today, gramophone records in Aprelevka can be seen only in a museum that exposition tells about the giant of Soviet era audio business production, whose products were well known at home and abroad. (Due to increasing interest in vinyl records among music lovers, the operations were partially resumed in 2005 -YB).

How about that? the last statement in brackets!
May be that is where all of the Melodyia gear finished up?
Here's Is the link to this

Interesting. With at least two Neumann VMS70 lathes in operation in Russia, there seems to be a lot of interest in vinyl.

What's just as interesting is that I have it from a pressing plant owner that the Chinese government is interested in buying his plant.

I was waiting to see when China would come into the equation... who knows what could happen if vinyl really "takes off" over there; could be good, could be bad, but will probably be BIG...

I was thinking more along the lines of, "what if vinyl takes off in China", then we would start seeing Chinese knock-offs of "everything" (lathes, cutterhead, amps, presses)....

I'm waiting to see if we start seeing Neumann-knockoff lathes & cutterheads, lacquers, & cutting stylii, coming out of China, flooding the market with cheaper prices...

Again, it could be Good for lots of people, and it could be Bad for a few people (who may be striving towards building up a machine shop to produce such stuff themselves!), but it'd be BIG...

The chinese connection is probably from serato/tractor/FS sales number increases - or it could be that someone in CD player land (pioneer) wants to try and kill us vinyl DJs off, by taking out one plant at a time. who knows.
I need a full cutting solution. But would consider parts :)

Trying to find more information about the museum referred to in Mossboss's posting... I'll be in Russia in July, and if this museum is open, I'll make every effort to see it. As for the China connection, IMO, I'd be very surprised if Russia would consider selling a state industry to China.
